Yes, the COVID-19 pandemic played a part in what happened with the entire world suddenly appearing on OnlyFans. We all discovered that there are more perverts out there in the world than we ever expected. Especially in the female sector of the workplace, and that is not a bad thing. Not by any means. The 2024 AVN Awards were a huge success. Having a porn expo in a “tent” was not all that bad was it? It was one of the coziest, well-set-up events in the history of the convention. It showed that there was progress from the year before. The booths were uniformed. The agencies had places for models to meet the fans at every turn. You even had these great indie booths, like the folks at Shrunked, setting up shop successfully next to the Brazzers booth. A world where everyone thrived. That is what we now must create for the performers of this business, and it begins with your understanding of business, safety, and standards in order to take this kind of progress to the production side of this industry.
When I look at today’s industry. We seem to be in a race to the bottom when it comes to production and career building. We are trying to plug in the performers who only have looks, with zero talent and only ambition to guide them on the streets and avenues of LA and Las Vegas. But ambition only takes you so far. This is a business after all. A business that has roots that stretch as far as the beginning of civilization in many ways. It takes knowledge, respect, discipline, and a lot of on-the-fly training to even begin to have an understanding of what it takes to become a porn star.

How do you think the legend that is Angela White became Angela White? Do you think it is by the volume of productions she created? Or, do you think it has to do with how a headstrong, book-smart woman from Australia, came to these United States and turned her business savvy as a sex worker into an empire that will never die? Complete with a marketing and distribution team for her productions, and a group of powerful artists set into place to give every production its own look and feel. With scouts who are out there as we speak looking to find performers who offer that kind of service to their fans so that they can adapt to what this new digital age of content creation and massive production has become. That is the race that we should all be taking part in. That is the ambition and understanding that every woman should have about what it truly is to be a porn star. At least a successful one.
The race that every adult entertainer in this modern industry should be signing up to take part in, is one that brings you a good paycheck. Not something that just gets you by. There is a place for that in the world. It is called “the lifestyle.” When you achieve stardom, your goal should not be to become one of the best, and no actor does that by themselves. Do you think that Natalie Portman does not have a publicist, a writer, a blogger, an agent, a manager, or a social media expert? If you think she achieved all of her success herself, maybe you are in the wrong business. Because neither she nor Angela White did all of what they did to change the world by themselves. Do you think the Angela White brand exists without lawyers, accountants, web geeks, financial strategy majors, and power players within the negotiation world? If you do, again, you might want to seek a profession that requires a lot less thought. Because being a porn star is not just about looking good, and being able to push your body to the limits. It is time for a change, and we will not get there by sitting on our ass. Or, by being intimidated by somebody who seems to have more knowledge than us. The beauty of knowledge, we all can achieve it. No matter how much common sense, or how many brain cells we were given at birth. This is how begin our race to the top. A place where A-list porn stars are now driven to become podcast hosts. Make the jump to mainstream movies, and look to grown old in the world of Hollywood. Just like many who came before us. Downy and Howard Stern would not be what they are without porn stars.

Just like me. I am a writer, and I will never again go back to an office setting, or brick-and-mortar spectacle of corporate bullshit. It is just not me. Just like it may not be you. Yes, you can achieve success. You can become a porn star for life and have something to show for it at 55 and retire. Or, stay in till you are 35 and have a comfortable life, making art and ceramics like a great friend of mine does in Florida. All while she grew in this industry as a girl who was fresh out of college. Without a degree, never look to be confined or defined by convention again. She is now in her late twenties, has her own workforce, and went from porn star to videographer, to now successful fetish performer and producer.
You can achieve all of this. You can build an empire. It is all about what race you decide to take part in, and how well you train, and prepare both mentally and physically for a marathon that takes it’s toll. Like any great journey in life worth taking does.
