Alison Rey Talks Impostor Syndrome and Renewed Focus on Performing on ‘Stripped By SIA’ Podcast.

Alison Rey opens up about going from performing to producing . . . and back to performing, and shares her insight on the modern adult film industry, as the featured guest on this week’s “Stripped by SIA” podcast.

Hosted by Steph Sia, “Stripped by SIA” is a podcast about strippers and sex workers with an aim to educate the masses about sex work. The show and this channel provides safe space for sex workers and service providers to speak about their experiences – the good, the bad, and the ugly – with an effort to normalize and de-stigmatize these professions.

The enlightening episode 125 finds the adult film performer/director sharing how she got into adult film, quantifying success in a healthy way, having the choice to say no to scenes you don’t want to do, challenging problematic storylines in porn, and much more.

Rey debunks some myths about squirting and performers using enhancements, and gets real vulnerable with us in discussing struggling with impostor syndrome, shifting life goals, and letting go of things that no longer serve you.

Rey also talks about what “ethical porn” really means and acknowledges just how fun filming cheesy porn is. It’s a packed episode that really gives us insight on how the industry work from someone who has been both in front of, and behind, the camera.

“Alison is a true professional, said host Steph Sia. “Not only is she a well-known figure in the industry, she is also completely down-to-earth, an extremely knowledgeable resource and tells it like it is. I really enjoyed our conversation together and feel like everyone will have a takeaway from this episode.”

Rey commented, “I loved being on the Stripped by SIA podcast. Steph Sia is an incredible conversationalist and dares to go beyond the typical subject matter for an interview with a porn star. We talked about some of the real issues in the industry, and it was refreshing to have a nuanced conversation about them, rather than being pigeonholed into a conversation that perpetuates the stigma around it.

“It’s so important to have nuanced conversations when it comes to this industry, because just like anything in life, it’s not black-and-white. It’s not all good, and it’s not all bad, but every part deserves to be talked about so that people can better understand our business as a whole. For too long, platforms like podcasts have held narrow, one-sided views of the industry and our conversation went in a very different direction than I was expecting. It’s a must-listen for anyone who wants to learn more about it.”
